Small & Mighty - Hope in a Tube

Did you know Newberg, Oregon is the Napa Valley of the Dental Industry?

Neither did I.

I learned that from a 25-year old kid (he looked 12) who hitched a ride from us back up to the put-in park after floating the Clackamas River. He told us all about the dental industry in the tiny little town of Newberg, OR, which is mostly known for its stunning wine country and tasty Pinots. We decided it was the quote of the day.

The float was awesome, we only got stuck in one eddy and no sunburns to report. But after several repeated weekends on the water (an amazing trip to Coeur d'Alene with my two laids, a trip down the Clack with the double K, and hanging out with the geriatrics at our condo's pool) my skin is REALLY dry. Especially my lips.

For a few years now, this Philosophy Hope in Tube (0.5 oz, $33) has been my favorite eye cream, and this summer it is also my favorite lip cream.

It's called High Density Eye and Lip Firming Cream and it feels like heaven. For around the eye area it is really emollient (creates a little shine), nice and thick and makes the skin around your eyes look hydrated and not crepe-y. I found that it is easier to put on after I apply moisturize because it smooths out a little better. It just feels heartier than the fast-absorbing gels and looks great under makeup.

In case you couldn't tell, I would pretty much rub this stuff all over my body. I love it.

So I've started to use it on my lips. It's great. I rub a small dab (really small) on and cover it up with Softlips (Softlips obsession to come in a later post). Lips will feel softer right away, and for me they were back to normal by the next day.

I also love the tube, and how you're not putting your dirty fingers into a little jar every time you put it on. Somehow it just feels cleaner.

I've been rubbing my lips together the entire time I've been typing this post.

  1. Aaaw, happy memories. I can't wait for more next summer!

Also: this cream is outstanding. I also think it really stands out/shines when you use it on long plane trips. It's the only one I've ever been able to count on for kinda going head-to-head with plane dehydration and WINNING! 'Cause we both know it's all about CLEAR EYES, right?!? xo
